Not sure...am I sad or mad or BOTH!

Just shot this picture of the demise of my (?) sea star.  Someone had brought it up to the campground.  Its broken and dead now!  I just can't believe someone would be so cruel.  I know those who read this blog would never intentionally harm a living critter and probably are now equally sad, mad, or more than likely feeling both emotions.  The sea star is being preserved to use as an educational example of what NOT to do with a living creature.
